About Proof of residency, New Mexico

Proof of residency, New Mexico?
Have friend from England, has lived and worked in New Mexico for 17 years. Has green card, pays taxes, pays gross receipts taxes, pays child support, property taxes and has a New Mexico drivers license. He lives here! Now, he gets a letter from New Mexico taxation and revenue, prompted by the Governors office, to prove residency, in person,in Albuquerque, within 30 days. That is 3 hours away by the way. Is this legal? Can the Governor do this to immigrants? The letter states that if he does not appear in person, by appointment, his drivers license will be canceled. What is up with this? Any legal, ethical opinion? Thanks!..........

If he has valid green card, why can't he just go to the office and clear up all this issue?
2 :
Yes this is legal. He should not worry if he did nothing wrong and has nothing to hide. It will just be an appearance that must be respected and obeyed. Immigrants are just that, immigrants. Maybe he forgot to renew something or file correct paperwork. It's pure guesswork until he goes and solves the problem.
3 :
New Mexico is one of three states that still do not require proof of legal status. Because of this, illegal immigrants from other states use false addresses to obtain driver's licenses and IDs. Governor Martinez has ordered the DMV to verify state residency of all foreign citizens who did not submit SSNs when they applied for a license or ID. It is unfortunate that people like your friend are being inconvenienced by New Mexico's inability to prevent driver's license and ID fraud.
4 :
Yes, it was designed to catch the illegal alien savages who used New Mexico's lax laws to get licenses
5 :
They just need sight of his green card A friend had something similar for property homestead allowance .. he had to produce his green card at the country building after about 8 years with no problem a nuisance but not a great problem
6 :
Seems to me Marteenis failed to get the open borders law revoked so she is using the DMV along with Rove's ever effective fear mongering spin as a backdoor. Encouraging police to harass anyone they even suspect is an immigrant did not even begin to satiate her appetite. Meanwhile Fox news and Arizona applaud her efforts to feed the fires of hatred. But your question really requires an immigration attorney. I would suggest your friend give the ACLU a call. But in the end, his choice is to eat caca and tip toe through the tulips like the rest of us peasants......or he spends the next 10 years as a sacrificial lamb in a justice system ruled by drugs, pimps and payoffs. While we entertain ourselves with police-state topics of terror, other countries like Canada welcome immigrants as the facts show they greatly expand GDP, growth and intellectual prosperity.

About I would like to get a job at Verizon Wireless. They have a call center here in Albuquerque, and retail stores

I would like to get a job at Verizon Wireless. They have a call center here in Albuquerque, and retail stores?
Which is generally the better place to work? I have 2 years of solid retail experience, and will have an Associates Degree by August. I have no problems with stressed out customers, and am a hard worker. Would the call center be better or the retail store? I also have a permanent arm injury, from my last job. I can't do a lot of repetitive motion with my left arm, and am not able to lift a lot of heavy items with my left arm. However, my right arm is fully able to do lots of work, and I am still able to type, with both arms(or hands). Any suggestions? Or Comments?

I think the Call center would be better for you, because with your arm injury.. you don't have to lift anything heavy and the only thing you have to do is answer the phones.

About Do you know a good site for population demographics

Do you know a good site for population demographics?
I am working on opening up an internet cafe in Albuquerque and am working on my business plan. Part of that is showing the growth of the population (hence, consumers) in the area I plan on opening up in. I have found a few but they aren't very clear or informative. If you know one please let me know I would be most appreciative.

Because J.C. Penney is a national company they should honor the insurance as long as the work is done at a J.C. Penney store. Be sure to bring some proof of purchase or the insurance certificate that was originally issued...
2 :
Yes. Just bring it to your local Penny's.

About Is Albuquerque, New Mexico a good place to be overall

Is Albuquerque, New Mexico a good place to be overall?
I am trying to make a move out of Chicago, IL. This place is not all that as the allure it had on me before moving here. I think I need to be some place laidback with good weather so I can go to work and school without worrying about bad weather (atleast 9 months of the year or more), traffic, close to 3 million people, expense, not having any parking space in a very crowded city. Is Albuquerque the place to be?

It is a very nice city. As a matter of fact, all of New Mexico is nice. I can relate to you on Chicago. I used to live there and I detest that place.
2 :
Albuquerque is okay but it is developing big city issues. Sante Fe New Mexico is more of an artist community. It is nice but the city is elevated above sea level. Ideal place is Las Cruces New Mexico. It is in the southern part of New Mexico off of Interstate 10. Small city, beautiful area and peaceful. It is right off of Interstate 10 in case you'd want to drive east to El Paso Texas or west to Phoenix Arizona or Los Angeles.

try bakeries or family-run buisinesses like a restoraunt best of luck!
2 :
a grocery store they do here in NY
3 :
That is tough. You may try lawn mowing, my 14 year old neighbor is always busy. He charges between $10-20 per lawn, depending on the size. You can also try dog sitting/walking, babysitting, washing cars or taking care of people's plants when they are on vacation. I know kids in ABQ that do all of these things for extra cash. Unfortunately, not a lot of businesses hire kids your age because of the insurance liabilities. For future reference, Kirtland AFB has a summer hire program that you can apply to when you are 16 and ABQ Ride offers service to Kirtland, in case you are still saving for a car then or gas is $6 a gallon. Good luck.

About Do you think the Las Alamos nuclear lab might be a job illegal immigrants would be advised NOT to work at

Do you think the Las Alamos nuclear lab might be a job illegal immigrants would be advised NOT to work at?
http://www.lcsun-news.com/latest/ci_6884618 "LOS ALAMOS, N.M. รข€” Three illegal immigrants who used fake documents to try to get badges that would let them work on a construction job at Los Alamos National Laboratory have been turned over to federal immigrant agents. Security officers were suspicious of documents presented to the lab's badge office Wednesday by the three men from Mexico, and faxed the documents to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Albuquerque. ICE officials confirmed that the documents presented by the men were false. Lab security officers contacted local police, who escorted the trio off lab property and held them for immigration authorities. Police said it's a federal offense to falsify identity to federal agencies." What do you think? sorry - Los Alamos

Seems someone is trying to get some plutonium doesn't it. And using illegals to get in, and get it for them. Here is the worst disaster of a Nuclear Plant that still is in the process of clean-up. Now THAT was dumb.hahaha....Thank goodness they actually checked.I'm sorry...still lol and can't stop. Not too many smarts on that job application. Now that the laughter has died.I wonder what will happen to that contractor?Oh boy...nothing like gaining a contract and having your employees turn up illegally working in a plant like that.

This is in the area I live in, and has happened before. The security checks caught these people, but the enforcement and background checks historically have been lax. They'll get a slap on the wrist and be deported. No sense taking up bed space in Club Fed or ICE detention PROVIDED they don't turn something up during the deeper background checks on these individuals, and trust me...the Feds will rip their lives apart to make sure they aren't members of anything close to a terrorist organization. My question is why they don't do that before they allow them in to the reactor complex to begin with.
8 :
I am not a fan of Nuclear in the first place and that is frightening to me...... No need for the Nuclear supporters to tell me how safe it is my brother is an Engineer and I have heard this argument many times before but then you throw into the mix that with simple fake documents one can just stroll off the streets and into the complex.............. eek, I need to check to see how close the nearest Nuclear facility is again...... Chuck_Junior your right the time for the strenuous background checks is BEFORE they are hired....

I am 17 are there any jobs that I apply for or go to school for that work with children/teens with autism?
I was wondering if anyone knew of any jobs in Albuquerque, NM that work with child that have autism. I have volunteered before with children with Autism and I really enjoyed it. Are there any places that anyone knows of that works with these children. Also, can you suggest classes that need to be taken at the University that would allow you to work with them. I don't know exactly what I want to do cause I am unaware of the job opportunities out there but if you could give me names of jobs or any suggestions that would be really helpful thanks.

About Should I work on becoming a city police officer or county sheriff/ state trooper

Should I work on becoming a city police officer or county sheriff/ state trooper?
I really want to stay in a major city that's not to big, a city about the size of Tulsa, Albuquerque, Kansas City and other cities of that size. I also would like to know how county sheriff or state troopers operate in medium/large cities. So any ideas on what I should do? Thanks

Based on my experience, I really loved being with the city police. I worked in a more precise area day in and day out so I was able to become very familiar with the regulars and the area. My back up was closer when trouble started and there seemed to be less politics involved since the chief is hired and a sheriff is elected. (There is still SOME politics involved due to city officials and councils, etc.) My friends with Sheriffs dept and troopers had to cover a much much larger area and usually without any backup for 30-60 miles away. It seemed I was also able to learn many different aspects of the job with the city and promotion seemed quicker. A city police department is certainly my choice for starting out.
2 :
One good thing about being a city police officer is that your backup is about minutes or less away, which is nice.On the other hand if you don't want to be too overwhelmed, being a deputy sheriff would probably be best for you.State troopers operate mainly on the state's highways. They have jurisdiction of the whole state, although you don't see them going down city or county streets very often. If you like to focus on traffic, you would be best at state trooper or city police.State police make the most,if you are concerned with the pay. Hope this helps and good luck with your choice.
