About How do I get my work published

How do I get my work published?
So I'd like to find a decent agent to help me find publishers for some book ideas, but I have no idea how to find one! I live in a dinky a$$ town right now, but am moving to Albuquerque in a few months. I've looked online, but there are too many scams and shady looking stuff. Any help you can give would be great! Thanks! Lol, I didn't mean "ideas" I meant the books! I have ideas and drafts, and my English professors have looked them over and said they're pretty good, just need some professional editing.

You need to write the entire book first. THEN you begin looking for agents. Write a query letter, which can take much time in itself, because it needs to be perfect.
2 :
1.) Go to the Library 2.) Check out a copy of writer's market 3.) Find several agents. 4.) Send many queries.
3 :
I would recommend that you go out and buy Writer's Market (you can also go to their website at http://www.writersmarket.com/). It's a guide book with tons of information (including lists of agencies with lots of info about what they do and don't publish etc).
4 :
You can not publish book ideas.
5 :
First off, an agent will hardly ever represent a story idea. You should have most, if not all, of your story completed before you send it out. And don't ever ever ever send it to an agency that charges a fee for reading your manuscript, that's a scam. As to where to send it, I would recommend checking out a copy of "The Writer's Market" from your local library. That will introduce you to publishing jargon, teach you how to write a query/cover letter, and also list most of the agents and publishers and what genre of stories they represent. Check out this website: http://www.caroclarke.com/iamyoureditor.html That article is called "I am Your Editor: Submitting Your Novel" and the site also has other helpful articles and tips on how to write/finish your book. Good luck to you!
6 :
There is a website called borders and if you go on there and create an account there is an area where they can have you publish it. It costs though...If you want to do a longer process go to the library they have books that show you the process and also lists of names for publishers and proof readers...Good Luck!
7 :
First of all we have hit a recession. Agents aren't going to help you market book ideas and don't have the time to wait around for it to come to fruition. Publishers are even less inclined considering they have a long list of finished products in which to choose from. --- They have ideas that will be written poorly and others that will be done well. They will have manuscripts that are excellently written with a so so concept so believe me 'ideas' are not gonna cut it in this industry at this time. --- If you are serious spend some time at some libraries and attend some lectures of published authors. Maybe hit up a conference or two attend a workshop and join a national writing organization. Those people will have the best advice because most of them have been doing this for many years.
8 :
I suggest that you self-edit your work. You can set it aside for a while and then you can come back to it later and do the editing. Here's a site about you to publish. It is really worth visiting and I hope it can help you with what you want to do with your story. http://selfpublishingjourney.wordpress.com/

Where can I get a lack of criminal record report (background check) in Albuquerque, NM?
I am going to work abroad and I need to get proof of a lack of criminal record and get the paper apostilled. Where do I go to do this in Albuquerque?
Other - United States - 1 Answers

"No criminal record" documents are a normal request. Either the Albuquerque Police Department or the county Sheriff's Office can provide one (maybe both agencies, but call first). Same with fingerprints. You will have to go to their appropriate office in person and there is usually a fee. The letter will be on departmental stationary with signatures so it will be an official document. Government agencies in America don't typically use the stamps & seals often found on documents from other countries, but ask if they have stamps or seals that can be added to the letter. http://www.apostilleinusa.com/

How do I find more work as a film actor?
I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I sent a lot of e-mails to casting director who "added me to their files" and offered their over-priced class (that right, one class) to me. What are some great sites and such I could find work?

Forget the web and get an agent.
2 :
As you've discovered, online "casting agencies" just put your picture on their site and then try to sell you something. You need to get a talent agent (in person) who will get you auditions.
3 :
Yes, I agree with theatre doc. You really should look for an agent rather than on the internet. They will get you more and better quality auditions. Look for a reputable one with no joining fees, entry by audition only and a small number of actors on their books. Good Luck!

About How much should I be getting paid

How much should I be getting paid?
I just graduated from Arizona Automotive Institute with an associates degree in Automotive Autotronics, but have pretty much a lifetime experience with autos, as my father's a certified master mechanic. I've gotten approved for a job with a Dodge dealership here in Albuquerque, New Mexico working on their heavy line, more specifically transmissions, and tomorrow I go to discuss my employment with them and negotiate wages. I've opted to start out hourly until I get the hang of things, at which time I'll switch to flat-rate, but I'm not familiar with the pay rate in the industry and haven't found much online info about it. Is anybody familiar with the work and pay? What should I be aiming for when I go in tomorrow?
Maintenance & Repairs - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
id say at least 15+ an hour
2 :
www.careerbuilder.com and www.monster.com have search fields you can use to find the average pay for your skills and areas. Hey, just in case tomorrow doesn't work out, maybe there's a job on there for you.
3 :
Check out salary.com for starters and cal la few shops in town or in another area to geta feel for base pay rates. Remeber, he who brings up money first is going to lose. Don't sell yourself short and don't expect to make top dollar either.
4 :
It does'nt matter what your education is, it's how well you perform. If you can "cut it" you are probably worth about ten bucks an hour. After you switch to flat rate, you will move to around the 8-12 per flat rate hour. Then it depends on your skill and speed. If you are really good you will be able to demand upwards of 20 bucks per flat rate hour. With your background I would expect you to make close to 100k within 5 years. Good luck.
5 :
The typical dealership bodyman will make in the $20.00-$28.00 range working on the flat rate. A good transmission man should do at least that good or better. For hourly, I would expect no less than $15.00 to start if I was sure I could average at least 80% of the flat rate times.
6 :
i have no clue but good luck.

What are some cool spots to go to in Albuquerque, New Mexico?
I'm considering moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico from San Diego, California to look for work. I have a good friend that lives over in Santa Fe, NM and he was convincing me that there's some good job openings and affordable housing over in Albuquerque that I want to look at. I just want to know what some cool hang out spots are in Albuquerque to visit if I decide to move over there.

The job market in Albuquerque is not that good. The Federal Government is the largest employer in New Mexico. They operate Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs and the three Air Force Bases in the state. Jobs here don't pay as well as they would elsewhere. New Mexico is the third most impoverished state in the country. 19% of the residents live on or below the poverty line. Don't be surprised if people come up to beg for money on an almost daily basis. New Mexico is the fourth most dangerous state in the country with one of the highest violent crime rates. There are 8000 gang members in Albuquerque. Albuquerque is a desert 5000 feet in elevation. There's a lot of intense sunlight here. People walk around with umbrellas open to keep the sunlight off of them. There are some intense wind storms that blow dust all over the place. And when it does rain, the rain tends to be saturated with dirt. When I moved here my auto insurance doubled. That's because a driver not having insurance tends to be the norm. There are quite a few burglaries and car thefts here. But humidity is rather low. And the Northeast section of town is nice. Otherwise, the place is a dump. Just so you know: Sante Fe translates to Holy Faith. Sandia translates to Watermelon. Rio Grande translates to Big River. Lastly, New Mexico is the only state in the country with two official languages: English and Spanish.

I'm from Albuquerque. I don't know of too many places in particular but I can think of general places. The Sandia Mountains are a neat place to go. I went atop the crest by the Tram, and hiked up there once. It's nice and cool. Around the bottom, if you go up, Indian School, to the end is nice too. Hiking around the Petroglyphs is very neat but it seems hotter on the westside, but if you feel like checking out some ancient stone pics then go there.

SURPRISE, it's all one big cash cow spending spree.... LQQK where the money is actually going... what it is being spent on. The bail-outs, cash for clunkers, Tarp, the push for the health care hands in that cookie jar, and just the overall EVIL that these people conjure up.... it is so obvious.

Look,it's not his decisions that matter,it's the people who pull HIS strings,so he may want to do something good but it doesn't depend on his decision,it depends on THEIRS,they sometimes do as the people want Obama to do just for the masquarade that he's trying and doing something good but otherwise they'll achieve what they want

I realized what A liar and snake in the grass he was before he ever got elected. Well people wanted change and they got it, the worst president in history. He is so dumb and idotic and does so many dumb and idiotic things that I couldn't even mention one thing that bugs me the most. Oh but I'll try anyway, he is too young and his kids are too young for him to be focused on what he needs to be. He has no experience. He is a muslim and we are supposed to be fighting the muslims. The stupid preacher at the church he went too hated Americans and said they deserved 9/11, doesn't sound like he has our best interest at heart. Thanks for agreeing that OBAMA SUCKS!

Not too many more times, I hope.

What does one have to do with the other. How does research equal stockpiles?
10 :
I dont know but all i know is we need to wake up and smell the roses the "change" that is coming isnt a good one. Obama will probally ruin this country and i wouldnt be suprised if he did. Im sorry to any OBAMA fans but we gotta get him out of office if we know whats good for this country. He promised change fast and i aint seen a single damn one yet!! Does anybody else feel like me??!!

1) Research is not stockpiling. 2) The key phrase is "and security programs." That represents a whole lot more than traditional nuclear weapons.

My recomendation is don't do it. Very few people I know who have gone to Nuevo Laredo (closest to me) for dental work have been satisfied. Most have had to spend more fixing the screw ups. Remember, your last years of high scool are your college in mexico
2 :
I lived in El Paso for 20 years and never really heard of a good dentist in Juarez. I know many people who bypassed Juarez to go deeper in Mexico to find a good dentist. Its so corrupted. Plus, with the price of gas, you may end up breaking even on cost to get a done here with a good dentist. I tell you what, visit this website: www.healthsavings.ourperfectcard.com I signed up online over 5 years ago now for all my dental needs and they have saved me thousands of dollars throughout the years on all services. Root canals, exams, xrays, cleanings...etc. They even had my very affordable plan active in 2 hours and was able to use it the very same day.

About Can I work at Wal-Mart in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 14? What about Smiths

Can I work at Wal-Mart in Albuquerque, NM at the age of 14? What about Smiths?
Okay so I am turning 14 this year and I wanted to get a workers permit and go to Wal-Mart to work. The problem is though that I don't know if they will hire a 14 year old girl. I know the probibility I will get a job because of the economy. What I want to know really is if they'll hire me. What about other stores such as Smiths and Albertsons? Will they hire me if I apply to those stores in Albuquerque, NM? I really need help on this. I want to become a part of the work world soon and I am having some trouble deciding where to work. And please if you could can you tell me how to act and dress for a job interview? Thank's so Much!

No, Wal-Mart doesn't hire 14 year-olds. The youngest kid I know that works there is 16 and he works the afternoon - night shift gathering carts from the parking lot. The cart pushers make the least amount of money. I've never heard of Smiths and minimum age is 16 at Albertsons too. I don't actually know any 14 year-olds that work. Well, there is one kid. He works on a ranch feeding bunnies, peacocks, geese, chickens, turkeys, horses, cows, goats, etc. In an interview, say "Yes, Sir" and "Yes, Ma'am" Be sure to thank them for their time at the end of it. Dress decently and if you have any facial piercings, be sure to have a spacer in. Answer their questions thoroughly. Tell them how social and friendly you are and why it would be a good idea to hire you. Be yourself. [:

You have to be more patient in a dental school because everything takes more time to complete. You may want to seek less expensive treatment at dental community centers in your area. You could call the local dental society (the number should be in the phone book) and ask for such information. Hope this helps, good luck!

About Cheap Dental work

Cheap Dental work?
I am looking for a place to get cheap dental work in Albuquerque N.M. Does anyone know of a low cost clinic or school that I could look into.
Dental - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
If you can travel down across the border to Mexico you can save alot. could be worth it if you have alot to have done.
2 :
As cheap as it is, Mexico does not have strict oversight of dental practices. Sterilization protocols, continuing education, labs that use the best materials...all are big question marks in Mexico. I've personally seen great dentistry and really BAD dentistry come from there. It's a gamble. If you want to take that chance with your mouth to save a buck, I wish you luck. You'll need it.
3 :
I can't really answer that cause I'm not in New Mexico, but I do have a question to ask. Why are you looking for "cheap dental work"? In the dental field, cheap usually means just that, cheap. It means that if you pay only $300.00 for a cheap crown, then you can expect to probably need to replace it in about 3-5 years. That means paying another $300.00. And then possibly having it either fail again in another 3-5 years and need to be replaced again or to fail and be unsavable. I mean no offense, but please consider that in the dental field if you ask for cheap, that is usually exactly what you get. And I don't mean financially.
4 :
You would be better off going to someone in Albuquerque that has been recommended by others and doing the work over time that you can budget for. Trust me, teeth work can nearly always be done over time with usually several alternatives of treatment. I am a dentist here in Texas. Hope this helps.
5 :

You can get low cost work done at high quality dentists: There is a very in-expensive but high-quality dental plan that can help you with that. How long does a USPS Media Mail package take when shipped from Phoenix, AZ to Albuquerque, NM?
I ordered a book on Amazon.com over a week ago from a non-amazon seller located in Phoenix. I live in Albuquerque. I know Amazon's shipping guidelines say 5-16 business days, but I was wondering if it's really going to be much more than 5 days, since Arizona is so close. If anyone knows (i.e. if you've ordered a book from Arizona to Albuquerque, or you work(ed) for the Postal Service) I'd appreciate the information. Thanks.

On average it will say 5-16 days but in my experience with Phoenix to San Diego, it takes around a week.
2 :
Post Office website says it will take 4 days. Amazon probably said 5-16 because they are not sure how fast the seller will get the package shipped so they "padded" the delivery quote time a little. So you should get the package about 4 days after they mail it. CH

About Could I get assistance finding work in Albuquerque, New Mexico

Could I get assistance finding work in Albuquerque, New Mexico?
I have been looking for work since 2007 and cannot find anything. I have applied to numerous places but rarely get responses from anyone, even rejections. Surely I must be doing something wrong, its never been this difficult to find work before. I only have an associates degree in computer science, so that may be what is keeping me from being hired by tech companies. However, as I am desperate for work, I can't even obtain menial jobs like custodial or cashier type jobs. Is there places you recommend I apply to? What should my resume look like (I wont post it here, but your suggestions/examples would help)? I am willing to take almost any job, but I tend to stay away from fast food, or outdoor work.

I guess the chances are as good as an NFL team working in Minnesota this season. BTW...Albuquerque has a population 5 times greater than Green Bay. Still say they could not afford it?
2 :
no way that town can't aford it
3 :
About as good as any other place.
4 :
Nope that region can bearly support Arizona NM I hate to say it will most likely never have a pro sport franchise.
5 :
No. Not a big enought market. Maybe if their market grows a lot in the future.
6 :
if they can put a NBA team in Oklahoma City, why not??
7 :
Depends on the amount of football fans and population and proximate of other NFL teams ie. Broncos and Cardinals. Do you have enough fans to fill a 70,000 person stadium every game? Do you have local support to use tax dollars to build that stadium? Answer those questions and you have your answer.
8 :
If somehow they could squeeze out the money they would never ever ever ever ever be good they would be a worse franchise than the Cardinals
9 :
This question was asked before. You guys already have the Isotopes (The Simpsons).
10 :
Not a large enough TV market. Sorry, I love Albuquerque - but not large enough. And the comparison with Green Bay is silly - Green Bay is an original NFL team from when Canton, Ohio had a team. Things have changed. Silly comment there by some guy.
11 :
No. You have two NFL Teams in Texas & one in Arizona, so why have another one in another state if the market is plenty enough for the NFL? Besides, there isn't enough support from the city to have one so don't keep your hopes up.
12 :
No because nobody in New Mexico cares about football.
13 :
If your Low Blows NCAA team cant get more than 50,000 to a game week in week out, how do you propose any affordability factor for an NFL team, given the difference in ticket prices? Everyone, everywhere likes to have a fantasy about the numbers and possibilities, and I say good luck, but dont plan on it for a few years.

breaks and lunch time are FEDERAL LAWS NOT state laws.. those very by state..some states have no law that says you have to be given such and such time to break and/or eat . the only rule for breaks that are across the us are for truck drivers and those in the medical field.

Where can felons find work in the Albuquerque New Mexico area?
Where can a 4th degree felon find work? A job that pays good. The charge is 10 yrs old and was dropped 2 years ago, but it stays on my record.

Work for Bush in the white house, or run for some political office.

How about Arizona, or maybe California. Better yet, try Mexico, I hear all their workin' folk are heading north.
3 :
If the charge was dropped and you were not convicted of a crime, it should not show up on a criminal records check. A deep background check would show the arrest and the fact that charges were dropped. If you were not convicted of anything, get an attorney and get that entry expunged. As far as employment, you'd have to list other skills besides a fourth degree felony.

Work permits may be issued to an Albuquerque Public School student, ages fourteen (14) or fifteen (15), at the school site by an issuing officer designated by the school principal. Students aged sixteen (16) and above are not required to obtain a work permit to hold employment. During summer breaks, a work permit may be issued by personnel at the Student, School and Community Service Center or can also be obtained at the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions.
