me and my boyfriend have been together for 8 months, i know its not that long but we have an amazing bond and truly love each other, were both from albuquerque but he's leaving to college in LA. As it happens i'm moving to San Francisco so we won't be too far and i fly for free so i can go stay with him one weekend every month and we'll be home at the same time for breaks... Any way does any one have any suggestions on how to make this work and keep our relationship strong while were apart?

Make a regular date every week to call each other on the phone and talk. (Skype--the webcam site where you can talk face-to-face over your computer--is an option as well.) The fact that you're going to see each other regularly is good, too. Occasionally do something random like sending him a care package with his favorite food in it. Here's something really creative that I read about in a magazine, but haven't actually tried with a boyfriend (I've done it with a friend who lives far away): both of you rent the same DVD, then pop it in at the same time and watch it together over the phone or IM. (This helps if you're feeling particularly lonely and want to be with him really badly. It's ALMOST like a date, but not quite.)

being 14 i dont believe you can get a job.... but you can always create your own... i did it one summer but the jobs kinda suck...here are some of the thing i did: any kind of lawn maintenance, lawn mowing, weeding, planting, clearing dead plants, spreading mulch. its all manual labor people are happy to have others do. I would either get the home owner to agree to a fixed amount prior to the work or work on an hourly basis.I think i ended up getting $8-$10 dollars an hour depending on how fast i worked. the great thing is that even though it can take up some time it is easy work.

But just recently, I found a deal where you leave from LA roundtrip total price (including tax) for $916... but it's in late Nov. Do you think I'll find a better deal if I wait (or in early 2008), or should I grab it?

Are we destined just to put up with a mayors behavior, and scandal? The mayor of Albuquerque has been sweeping sexual assults under the rug, has hired buddies that were unqualified, and sexually harrassed and abused women who work for this city, instead of cleaning it up he sweeps it under the rug and pays out large settlements to keep things quiet, and then installs red light cameras to pay for all the mess. I dont even work for the city and I know all about what is going on, whats worse the news media here wont dare do a story on Marty Chavez? Why? Who knows there may be some payout going on there as well. So what can we do? Does anyone know how to report such corruption, if at all anything can be done about this, yes he was elected, but how can the people that vote know about what he is doing if news wont report it. If the scandal doesnt get told, are we stuck with him?

sit ups dont give u abs. You cant target fat loss. U need a real good diet and lots of cardio to get ur abs to show. Getting visible abs is all about having a very low body fat, the lower ur body fat is, the more ur abs will show. So diet, diet and DIET!

I was scheduled to work 5pm to 11pm. My boss called and asked me if I could work 6pm to 12am instead. I agreed. At work, the employee who is relieving me arrived at 11pm, (normal scheduled time), unaware of the fact I'd been asked to stay until Midnight. I got asked to clock out (by the Manager, after some phone calls); and therefore lost an hour (that I can't afford). I know this isn't fair to either myself or the other employee. We live and work in Albuquerque, New Mexico. How should this have been handled and what are the laws that protect our manager and/or myself?? We work at hotel if it is pertinant. The Manager also threatened - also saying any employee who gets over-time will be written up and reprimanded, even if the over-time is a result of employees, (like the Manager herself) arriving late on a consistent basis. There have been occassions we have been asked to clock out, but remain until someone else shows up. The tardy employees are often late by 15 to 30 minutes, if not more. I know it is wrong to ask employees to stay off the clock. Thanks in advance.

New Mexico is not a right to work state, but I would say mainly because it's in a time before then when trying to unionize was met with beatings

Changing the hours or sending you home is legal. They can manage the work force as needed. As to being asked to remain working off the clock that is illegal. They have to pay for time worked. You can report this to the labor board but be aware you could be fired and they will find an excuse to do so. Seems you need to job hunt.

Have friend from England, has lived and worked in New Mexico for 17 years. Has green card,pays taxes, pays gross receipts taxes, pays child support,property taxes and has a New Mexico drivers license. He lives here! Now, he gets a letter from New Mexico taxation and revenue, prompted by the Governors office, to prove residency, in person,in Albuquerque, within 30 days. That is 3 hours away by the way. Is this legal? Can the Governor do this to immigrants? The letter states that if he does not appear in person, by appointment, his drivers license will be canceled. What is up with this? Any legal,ethical opinion? Thanks!..........

I would like to get a job at Verizon Wireless. They have a call center here in Albuquerque, and retail stores?
Which is generally the better place to work? I have 2 years of solid retail experience, and will have an Associates Degree by August. I have no problems with stressed out customers, and am a hard worker. Would the call center be better or the retail store? I also have a permanent arm injury, from my last job. I can't do a lot of repetitive motion with my left arm, and am not able to lift a lot of heavy items with my left arm. However, my right arm is fully able to do lots of work, and I am still able to type, with both arms(or hands). Any suggestions? Or Comments?

I think the Call center would be better for you, because with your arm injury.. you don't have to lift anything heavy and the only thing you have to do is answer the phones.

how much does it cost to live in Albuquerque, New Mexico?
I live in Bloomington, IL and between me and my boyfriend we make around 25000/ year but I am not originally from here and I just graduated this summer from college with a communication degree but didn't work with it, i couldn't find a job but i have management and sales experience. I really want to move to Albuquerque so I have been applying to jobs there but was wondering how much do I have to make in order to be able to live there decently i.e apartment, bills, car, life expenses.. Please help I don't think i can be here much longer

Do you know a good site for population demographics?
I am working on opening up an internet cafe in Albuquerque and am working on my business plan. Part of that is showing the growth of the population (hence, consumers) in the area I plan on opening up in. I have found a few but they aren't very clear or informative. If you know one please let me know I would be most appreciative.

my dad bought a ring from jc pennies in ohio and the insurence claim came with it if the ring had to be cleaned of refited and then now its herre in albuquerque with me and i need it to be fitted out more will they let me do it? help please

About Is Albuquerque, New Mexico a good place to be overall
Is Albuquerque, New Mexico a good place to be overall?
I am trying to make a move out of Chicago, IL. This place is not all that as the allure it had on me before moving here. I think I need to be some place laidback with good weather so I can go to work and school without worrying about bad weather (atleast 9 months of the year or more), traffic, close to 3 million people, expense, not having any parking space in a very crowded city. Is Albuquerque the place to be?

It is a very nice city. As a matter of fact, all of New Mexico is nice. I can relate to you on Chicago. I used to live there and I detest that place.

Albuquerque is okay but it is developing big city issues. Sante Fe New Mexico is more of an artist community. It is nice but the city is elevated above sea level. Ideal place is Las Cruces New Mexico. It is in the southern part of New Mexico off of Interstate 10. Small city, beautiful area and peaceful. It is right off of Interstate 10 in case you'd want to drive east to El Paso Texas or west to Phoenix Arizona or Los Angeles.

I am 14 years old and i am trying to find a job in Albuquerque, New Mexico because i am desperate for money. Cany anybody tell me where i can work for a summer job so that i can make some money????

That is tough. You may try lawn mowing, my 14 year old neighbor is always busy. He charges between $10-20 per lawn, depending on the size. You can also try dog sitting/walking, babysitting, washing cars or taking care of people's plants when they are on vacation. I know kids in ABQ that do all of these things for extra cash. Unfortunately, not a lot of businesses hire kids your age because of the insurance liabilities. For future reference, Kirtland AFB has a summer hire program that you can apply to when you are 16 and ABQ Ride offers service to Kirtland, in case you are still saving for a car then or gas is $6 a gallon. Good luck.
